Browse pluginsHow it works
- When a restock alert is sent, the time is recorded against the subscriber. An hourly scanner then looks for rows whose alert is older than your delay and which have not had that reminder yet.
- Each reminder is re-checked in the moment before it sends. If the subscriber bought, unsubscribed, or the product sold out again or fell below your stock floor, the reminder is skipped and recorded as skipped rather than retried.
- The reminder is marked as queued when the job is scheduled, not when it sends. A job queued twice because the scanner ran twice would mean a duplicate email, which is a worse outcome than very occasionally missing one.
Setting it up
- Turn on the first reminder and set a delay. Twenty four hours suits most stores; go shorter for fast-moving lines where stock will not last.
- Write the message. The second reminder is the place for a genuine scarcity line, if one is true.
- Optionally set a stock floor so reminders stop once only a few units remain, which keeps you from selling the same unit twice over.
- The Reminder column in the subscribers list shows who has had what.
Shortcodes
{product_name}Product they were told about.{cart_link}Add to cart link. Use this rather than the product link: they have already decided.{product_price}Current price, which may have changed since the alert.{stock_left}Units currently in stock, when stock management is on for the product.{subscriber_firstname}Their first name.
Common questions
Will somebody who already bought get a reminder? Not if the Track Sales add-on is active, because it moves them to Purchased and this add-on skips that status. Without Track Sales there is no way to know they bought, so install it alongside this one.
What if the product sells out again? The stock level is checked in the moment before each reminder is sent. If it is out of stock, or below your floor, that reminder is skipped and not retried.
How many reminders is too many? Two is the practical ceiling. A third gets very few extra orders and a noticeable number of unsubscribes, which is why only two are offered.
Does this respect unsubscribes? Yes. Anybody who unsubscribes drops out of the sequence immediately.
Data and privacy
- Stored per subscriber: the time the restock alert was sent, and for each reminder either the send time or the reason it was skipped.
- Nothing is sent to any third party. Reminders go out through the same WooCommerce mailer as every other notification.
